Event Details:
Monday, December 20 @ 6:30 PM
Doors open at 6:00 PM, and all students need to be in their classrooms by 6:15 PM.
Tickets:
Due to the limited space we have in the sanctuary, we are using a ticket reservation system for our Christmas Program. Each family is allotted 6 non-student tickets. Christmas Play Assignments & Costumes
All K1 Students and Mrs. Howes' 2nd Grade Class
Hello wonderful Acts Academy parents. I'm not sure if you know, but your kiddos are just the best. I love them with all my heart and am so excited to be creating a Christmas play for our December 20th performance. We started practicing the script last week with the 2nd graders. They ALL wanted speaking roles which is adorable.
PLAY SYNOPSIS:
The play is called "The Best Gift" and a brief synopsis is that the presents under the tree begin to think that they are the most important gift of all the holiday season, but are quickly shown that they are a representation of the BEST GIFT, Jesus, and a celebration of His birth.
THE PRESENTS:
There are nine 2nd grade speaking "presents" in the play: Anders, Mia, Reagan, Eden, Jordy, Piper, Foster, Landrie and Cam. The presents will have a K1 partner "present" who will not have any lines, but they will be following around the 2nd graders. So there will be 18 presents on the stage!!
THE NATIVITY:
There are 18 wonderful additions to our nativity scene for this play. The 2nd grade class has the majority of the speaking roles and there are some actions that the other K1 characters will play. Everyone is important to the experience of the play even if they don't have a line.
NATIVITY COSTUMES (See costume inspiration PDF below):
Pinterest has a ton of inspiration ideas for nativity scene costumes. These do not have to be fancy or elaborate by any means. I just want your kiddos and you to have fun making the costumes and to have a memorable and fun experience with this play. Please let me know if you need any help coming up with ideas!! I'm here to help.
PRESENT COSTUMES (See costume inspiration PDF below):
I would like for the kids to make these present costumes at home. Construction should be pretty simple. Save an old box that your kiddo can fit in comfortably. Cut open the bottom so their legs and body will fit in. Then they can cover the box in any way they'd like: wrapping paper, construction paper, newspaper, kraft paper, stickers. They can wear a bow or construct a "lid hat" like the inspiration photo. Whatever their little hearts desire. Just remember that there will be A LOT of cute little presents on the stage, so nothing huge please except for our one "very large present" Foster.
COSTUME COMPLETION DATE:
We are finalizing the "full dress rehearsal" date. But it will be either Thursday, Dec. 16th or Monday, Dec. 20th. I will follow up with that information once we finalize it. That will be when the costumes will need to be ready. We will leave the present costumes at school so they are ready for the play Monday night.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW if your child WILL NOT be attending the Christmas play so I can plan for that now to move some things around.
Otherwise, you can reach out if you need anything. I will be giving printed copies of the script to the 2nd grade class on Monday to practice at home. We will be utilizing the television monitors in the chapel with their lines during the performance, but as much practice as possible so they feel comfortable with their lines would be great.
