Foster care wraparound
The Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) has been praying for what our outreach service project will be and how it would impact our community the most. We feel we are being called to minister to children in foster care along with their foster families. We are excited to partner with Collaborative Foster Care Program and Colorado Kids Belong.
Our goal is to develop long-term relationships with varying foster care organizations. We will be developing a wraparound team that will support and serve the needs of foster families and children in foster care. It takes a village! With a family of support, foster children and parents have a greater chance for success and stability.

- There are over 4,000 children in foster care in Colorado, but there are NOT enough families for these children!
- There are 298 children in foster care in Jefferson County, with ONLY 64 certified foster families
- There are approximately 51 children in foster care in Arvada, with ONLY 7 certified foster families
- Children spend an average of three years in foster care while waiting for reunification or an adoptive family
- 70% Of these children are 12 to 18 years old
- 50-80 children are waiting for placement on a daily basis
- Approximately 150-200 children age out every year. After aging out many lack a support system
- 50% of families that become foster-certified end up quitting within a year because of a lack of support
What is foster Care? |
Foster care provides a temporary family life experience, in a licensed home, for a child or youth removed from their own home due to abuse and neglect. Foster parents provide a safe home for children and youth while their parents learn new skills. Foster parents play a critical role in helping children heal and are a vital part of the child welfare team. Foster parents support children and their families in preparing them to reunite.
What is a 'wraparound' team?
A wraparound team will offer everything from last-minute needs for families/children, regular freezer meal prep, grocery/care package delivery and prayer teams! As we develop this team we will create and organize what we can do on a regular basis to impact our community, influence change for these children in foster care and support their foster families, and create relationships. When a foster family has their village of supporters, they will be more successful and then therefore the child in foster care will have more success in a stable, loving home.
